aluminium laser cutting & bending
We specialise in laser cutting a wide range of materials, with aluminium being one of our most versatile and popular choices. Aluminium’s unique properties make it ideal for various applications across multiple industries.
Why Aluminium?
Aluminium is renowned for its lightweight nature and impressive strength-to-weight ratio, making it a preferred material in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and construction. Its high corrosion resistance ensures durability and longevity, even in harsh environments. Moreover, aluminium is highly conductive, both electrically and thermally, which adds to its wide range of uses.
Precision and Efficiency
Our state-of-the-art laser cutting technology allows us to achieve unparalleled precision with aluminium. We can laser cut aluminium sheets in various thicknesses, ranging from 0.5mm to 20mm. This precision is crucial for creating intricate designs and components that meet exact specifications.
Grades of aluminuim
Aluminium 1050
This grade is part of the 1000 series, which is the purest form of commercial aluminium with at least 99% aluminium content. It boasts excellent corrosion resistance, high ductility, and impressive heat and light reflection capabilities. However, it has relatively low strength.
Applications:
- Chemical process plant equipment
- Food industry containers
- Architectural flashings
- Lamp reflectors
Aluminium 5251
As part of the 5000 series, aluminium 5251 includes magnesium as its main alloying element. This medium-strength alloy is known for good ductility, making it highly formable and weldable. It also offers excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments.
Applications:
- Marine structures
- Panelling and pressings
- Aircraft parts and vehicle panels
- Furniture tubing
- Silos and containers
Aluminium 5083
This grade is recognised for its high strength among non-heat treatable alloys, excellent performance in extreme environments, and outstanding corrosion resistance, especially in seawater and industrial chemical settings. It maintains its strength after welding.
Applications:
- Shipbuilding
- Rail cars and vehicle bodies
- Mine skips and cages
- Pressure vessels
Aluminium 6082
The 6000 series features silicon and magnesium as the primary alloying elements. Aluminium 6082 is a medium-strength alloy known for its excellent corrosion resistance and is the strongest in its series. It is widely used in structural applications and machining.
Applications:
- Roof trusses
- Bridges and cranes
- Transport applications
- Ore skips
- Beer barrels and milk churns
