Expert Brass Laser Cutting

Laser cutting brass requires specialist equipment. Brass is highly reflective, which makes it difficult to cut cleanly with older CO2 lasers. The fibre lasers at our facility handle this without issue, producing clean, oxide-free edges on every part. Whether you need a single prototype or a production run of custom cut brass components, the result is a sharp, consistent finish ready for secondary processes like soldering, brazing, or welding.

Brass CZ108

CZ108 is the standard sheet brass grade we stock. It contains 63% copper and 37% zinc, giving it excellent cold forming and bending properties. The high zinc content makes CZ108 easy to work with across a wide range of thicknesses, and it holds up well during brass sheet laser cutting and subsequent forming.

Key properties:

  • Good corrosion resistance
  • Excellent cold forming and bending
  • Good weldability (soldering, brazing, oxyacetylene)
  • Reasonable machinability at slower speeds
  • Clean laser-cut edge quality, ready for secondary processes

CZ108 Brass

Sheet brass is ideal for decorative work, signs, trophies, and electrical components. It’s easy to form, engrave, and work with, making it popular for nameplates, heat exchangers, radiator tanks, switches, fasteners, musical instruments, and general copper smithing.

Quality & Traceability
Every part comes with full material certification and traceability. We are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 27001, plus Cyber Essentials accredited.

Cut and Bend Under One Roof
Get brass parts cut and formed from a single order. No coordinating between separate suppliers. No double handling. Faster turnaround and better quality control on every job.

Fibre Laser Expertise
Brass is notoriously tricky to cut with traditional CO2 lasers due to its reflective surface. The Trumpf fibre lasers at our facility handle brass cleanly across the full 0.9mm to 5mm range, producing smooth edges with minimal heat-affected zones.

Fast Response
Request a quote and get accurate pricing within one hour during business hours. Our sales team handles enquiries directly. No automated systems, no waiting around.

Brass

Brass stands out from other metals thanks to its distinctive warm yellow appearance and versatile mechanical properties. As a copper-zinc alloy, it naturally resists corrosion and tarnishing, making it a strong choice for components exposed to moisture or outdoor conditions.
The thermal and electrical conductivity of brass makes it a go-to material in electronics and electrical fittings. Its natural antimicrobial properties also make it suitable for applications in food processing and medical environments where hygiene matters.

Brass Cutting Applications

Our brass laser cutting service covers a wide range of sectors

Whatever your industry, our metal laser cutting service handles everything from one-off prototypes to production runs.

Electrical & Electronics
Connectors, terminals, bus bars, switchgear components, and circuit board shielding. Brass’s excellent electrical conductivity makes it a natural fit.

Marine & Instrumentation
Corrosion-resistant parts for marine hardware, precision instruments, and scientific equipment.

Plumbing & HVAC
Heat exchangers, radiator components, valve parts, and pipe fittings. CZ108 brass holds up well in wet environments.

General Fabrication
Brackets, fasteners, hinges, nameplates, and custom components for manufacturing and product assembly.

Architectural & Decorative
Decorative panels, cladding details, signage lettering, and bespoke fittings for high-end interiors and restoration projects. Polished brass sheet cut to size popular in heritage and period property work.

Brass FAQs

What is brass?

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. The grade we stock, CZ108, is 63% copper and 37% zinc, which gives it good corrosion resistance and excellent cold forming and bending properties.

What thickness of brass can you laser cut?

We laser cut CZ108 brass sheet from 0.9mm up to 5mm thick at our Essex facility, with bending available across the same range.

What grade of brass do you supply and laser cut?

We stock and laser cut CZ108, the standard sheet brass grade, which works well for laser cutting and for secondary processes like soldering, brazing and welding.

Why does brass need a fibre laser to cut?

Brass is highly reflective, which makes it hard to cut cleanly on older CO2 lasers. Our fibre lasers produce clean, oxide-free edges on every part.

Is brass recyclable?

Yes. Brass is 100% recyclable and can be melted down and reused repeatedly without any loss of quality.
