FAQ’s

CAD is an acronym for Computer-Aided Design. Using CAD drawings, we are able to create a range of parts suitable for both simple and complex laser cutting and bending sheet metal projects.

Unfortunately not, we cannot advise on your product design. However, we can advise on our laser and bending capabilities, you will then be able to instruct us to make changes to your drawings based upon this information.

All drawings are made with a view for them to be laser cut from sheet metal with the option of bending and powder coating if these services are required. We are able to produce a quote for all of these services, or just drawing and laser cutting.

Yes! There are some basic details that we will require from you to be able to create the drawing ready for laser cutting, the more detailed your description or hand sketch, the more accurate the final drawing will be, and so will your parts.

We provide comprehensive, dimensioned drawings that are ready for production. Before finalising your order, we will share a screenshot of your parts via email for your final review and approval.

The time needed to create a CAD drawing or design will depend on the complexity and technicality of the model. We can normally deliver simple projects of 1 components within a couple of hours whereas more detailed designs or multiple drawings may take in excess of a couple of days.

Copyright on Drawings: All parts and designs created by Lasered Components are copyrighted. Reproduction or use of these materials requires written permission.

Copyright protects original works of authorship, including drawings and designs. In the context of Lasered Components CAD drawings created based on a customer’s hand sketch:

The original hand sketch may be protected by copyright if it is sufficiently creative and unique.
If Lasered Components creates a CAD drawing based on the hand sketch, we hold the copyright to the CAD file itself, as it is a new, distinct work based on the original sketch.
The copyright owner of the hand sketch retains rights to the sketch itself, whilst Lasered Components holds rights to the specific design and presentation in the CAD file.

Our drawing service is only available to those customers who wish to order laser cutting, or laser cutting and bending.
