Stainless Steel Laser Cutting & Bending Services

Stainless Steel Grades 304, 316 and 430 from 0.5mm to 25mm thick | UK-wide delivery from Essex facility

We provide stainless steel laser cutting and bending across the UK. From our Essex facility, we cut 0.5mm to 25mm stainless in grades 304, 316 and 430, delivering clean, weld-ready edges for prototypes or production runs.

Need bending? We bend stainless steel up to 8mm thick.

Our Expert Stainless steel laser cutting

For thicker stainless steel up to 25mm, our tolerances hold to +/- 0.25mm on standard work, with +/- 0.50mm on material above 20mm thick. These specifications align with ISO guidelines and should be factored into your drawings, particularly when bending is required.

Stainless steel contains 10 to 20% chromium, which forms a passive oxide layer on the surface. This gives the material its corrosion resistance and makes it suitable for demanding environments. Grades 304 and 316 are austenitic and non-magnetic, while 430 is ferritic and magnetic. All grades offer excellent weldability when laser cut, as the process produces clean edges without oxidation when cut with nitrogen assist gas.

Maximum Sizes

The maximum sheet size for most materials is 3000mm x 1500mm. A 10mm border is required around the outside, so the maximum part size we can cut is 2980mm x 1480mm.

Protective Film

We can order stainless steel between the thicknesses of 0.9mm and 3mm with a protective plastic coating which is specifically designed for fibre laser cutting. This will help keep the A face of the product scratch free and will give some protection during the fabrication process.

We are able to order it for 4mm to 6mm but due to the cutting process it normally comes off.

Protective Film

We can supply stainless steel between 0.9mm and 3mm with protective plastic coating designed for fibre laser cutting. This keeps the face of your parts scratch-free during cutting and handling. Film can be applied to 4mm to 6mm material, but the cutting process often removes it. Brushed and mirror polished grades always come with protective film as standard.

Stainless Steel FAQs

What is stainless steel?

Stainless steel is a family of around 200 alloys of steel containing a minimum of 10.5% chromium. The chromium oxidises in air or water to create a passive layer that repairs light scratches and acts as a shield against corrosion.

What thickness of stainless steel can you laser cut?

We laser cut stainless steel from 0.5mm up to 25mm thick at our Essex facility.

What grades of stainless steel do you supply and laser cut?

We supply and laser cut 304 and 316 austenitic grades, plus 430 ferritic grade. 304 and 316 are non-magnetic in their annealed condition, while 430 is magnetic.

What are the main categories of stainless steel?

Stainless steels are divided into four main types defined by their crystalline structure: austenitic, ferritic, martensitic, and duplex. Austenitic accounts for around 70% of stainless steel in use globally.

Is stainless steel recyclable?

Yes. Stainless steel is 100% recyclable. On average, new stainless objects contain approximately 60% recycled steel, reducing both raw material demand and waste.
