Cor-Ten is a brand of corten weathering steel that slowly oxidises up to a point and then requires practically no maintenance. This product turns dark orange, creating an attractive effect which is particularly popular in architecture and sculpture.

Corten steel is strong, formable, and weldable, developing a protective rust patina over time. Laser cutting ensures precise, high-volume production with fast turnaround. Cor-Ten A (cold-rolled) and Cor-Ten B (hot-rolled) offer extra corrosion resistance, toughness, and weldability for various applications.

Maximum Sizes

The maximum sheet size for most material thicknesses (1.5mm to 12mm) is available in 3000mm x 1500mm, a 10mm border is required around the outside, so the maximum part size we can cut is 2980mm x 1480mm.

15mm, 20mm, 25mm & 30mm are available upon request but on a smaller sheet size of 2500mmx1250mm.

Sheet sizes may differ subject to availability.

Corten

The speed of the colour change will depend on the environment that it is subject to, the more frequently it is wet and dry and the greater the amount of sulphur in the atmosphere, the faster the distinctive weathered steel surface patina will develop.

Please note: patina only develops through repeated cycles of wetting and drying. If the surface remains constantly wet, this oxidation process cannot occur. Corten steel requires alternating exposure to moisture (which starts the oxidation) and dry periods (which allow the stable rust layer to form) to achieve its characteristic weathered appearance and corrosion resistance
