Learn more about Durbar/Tread plate

Checker plate is a flat metal sheet that has raised diamonds on one face, this is to improve grip and reduce accidents. Checker plate is also known as tread plate, Durbar floor plate, diamond plate or Positive Grip Pattern (PGP) floor plate. The plate has a flat alternate face for securing to other surfaces.

The raised surface pattern of Durbar is extremely slip-resistant. It creates a self-draining surface making it easy to clean and corrosion resistant. Domestic and commercial applications for Durbar sheets include: commercial vehicles, safety platforms, containers, stairs and walkways.

Known as 5 bar tread plate, Aluminium Diamond Plate and Aluminium five bar, offers excellent grip and corrosion resistance which makes it very suitable as flooring in industrial buildings, food processing, vehicle manufacture, shipbuilding and marine equipment.

Stainless Steel Checker plate has all the strength and durability of mild steel while having far superior corrosion resistance.

It can be cut, drilled, or welded. The multi-directional raised pattern aids drainage and increases grip in all directions, making it easy to position.

Maximum Sizes

The maximum sheet size for most materials is 3000mm x 1500mm, a 10mm border is required around the outside, so the maximum part size we can cut is 2980mm x 1480mm. There are exceptions to this rule – these are marked in the materials tables.

The thickness of tread plate is supplied as On the Plane, meaning the thickness of the material without the raised pattern. The thickness of the raised pattern is approximately 1.5mm, 3mm On the Plane has an approximate total thickness of 4.5mm.
